Large-scale Russian Attacks Disrupt Power Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while officials has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the city experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy died and several individuals were injured.

The strikes succeed evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

He said utility staff and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
